School Bus Safety Week

October 23, 2019 - School Bus Safety Week runs from October 21-25 this year. Parkland School Division would like to take the opportunity to thank all our drivers and contractors who safely transport over 8,000 registered bus riders 15,000 km twice daily. 

Pop Quiz

Check out the video produced by the Student Transportation Association of Alberta. There are some great reminders for bus riders and anyone who shares the road with our fleet of over 150 contracted buses.

Poster Contest

The Alberta Student Transportation Advisory Council (ASTAC) is sponsoring a provincial poster contest to promote School Bus Safety Week. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 can participate by submitting an entry that illustrates positive school bus safety behaviour. 

What: ASTAC School Bus Safety Week Poster Contest

Theme: Ready to Ride

Prizes: Each winner from K - 6 will receive a $25 gift card, a framed original of their poster, $100 for their classroom, and an engraved plaque. Honourable mentions will receive a $25 gift card.

Specifications: 11"x17" on heavy paper suitable for framing. The poster must contain the theme Ready to Ride.

Note: The back of the poster must contain: Grade, Student Name, School, School Division. All entries will become the property of the Alberta Student Transportation Advisory Council and may be reproduced, displayed or auctioned at the Annual School Bus Convention. Prizes (plaque for the winning contestant, $25 gift card, $100 cash to the class of the winner to be
used for a school field trip and framed print of the winning poster to the respective school) will be awarded for each grade category. Judging will be done in December and school division
transportation managers will be contacted to pass along the great news to the winners. Posters sent to the ASTAC Contest cannot be returned. If teachers are submitting for a class, please separate posters by grades.
