Administrative Announcement

Monday December 2, 2019 - Parkland School Division’s Superintendent of Schools, Shauna Boyce, is pleased to announce the following administrative appointment and announcement.

It is with mixed emotions, first of all, that the Division announces the retirement of Memorial Composite High School Assistant Principal, Rod Strangway effective December 31, 2019. Rod has served students of Parkland School Division for his entire career of 34 years in a variety of capacities. Mr. Strangway as been a classroom teacher at Frank Maddock High School, and Duffield School with a focus on Phys Ed and Math. His administrative career began as a Vice Principal at Duffield School before he moved to become the Principal at Keephills School in 1996. He began his current role as Assistant Principal at Memorial Composite High School in 2001.

“We wish Rod Strangway all the best in his retirement,” stated Superintendent Boyce.

“I personally had the privilege of working alongside Rod for 14 years and was inspired on a daily basis by his dedication to students and loyalty to Parkland School Division . Rod was instrumental during the construction and opening of Memorial’s current school site. He will most certainly be missed.”

“Shireen Mohammed is no stranger to the staff and students at Memorial. Her administrative experience combined with knowledge as a counselor will make for a smooth transition to her role as Acting Assistant Principal.”
